​Awards and Community Involvement:

Jean was awarded the Community Service Award by a Fortune 500 Company for leading numerous employee activities to benefit community organizations. In addition, she was recognized as one of the top fundraisers from Northern California Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Society. Jean has organized participation of 20 to 100 people for various community events including (but not limited to):

• Organizing team walks in the annual MS Walk
• Collecting and donating food (Alameda Food Bank)
• Donating business clothes (Career Closet)
• Granting “wishes” for those less fortunate (The Family Giving Tree)
• Mentored students at Conley-Carabello High School
• Actively involved in the community with the Union City Lions Club, Tri-City League of Women Voters, St. Anthony’s Foundation, and Taproot Foundation.

Jean has 30 years of human resources experience coupled with a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree and Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification. She started in human resources as a clerk and progressed to a Senior Vice-President Human Resources position for a Fortune 500 company. She has worked with a number of organizations in various industries.

She is a human resource generalist having worked predominantly in union environments. As a generalist, she focused on:

• State and federal compliance
• Responding to government agency complaints and proactively avoided potential lawsuits
• Providing strategic alternatives and counseling related to employee discipline, performance evaluations, dismissals, downsizing, and severance agreements
• Managing recruitment, safety, workers compensation, payroll, and benefit administration
• Negotiating bargaining agreements
• Creating employee handbooks
• Training management on leadership, team building, diversity, workplace violence, affirmative action, and sexual harassment
• Investigating complaints on all forms of harassment/discrimination

Jean is currently the Human Relations Commissioner for Union City, CA and has served as Executive Director of the San Francisco Jr. Chamber of Commerce.

Following is a partial list of Jean’s human resource generalist experiences:

• Lead negotiator of a five year labor union agreement
• Defended employers from employee claims and lawsuits
• Successfully researched, investigated, and prepared documented responses to complaints from the following agencies: OFCCP, EEOC, ADA, DFEH workers compensation, and unemployment.
• Restructured Human Resources Department for improved efficiencies and cost savings
• Recruited and managed seasonal fluctuation of 400 hourly personnel
• Trained employees on new Performance Management System
• Reduced headcount with no litigation issues
• Managed injury prevention and safety program
• Managed workers compensation program
• Created employee handbook
• Developed and conducted management development and team building sessions
• Led formal executive assessment for managers
• Interpreted new laws and implemented new policies as it related to the workplace

• Gathered documentation and served as primary liaison for OFCCP audit
