Olivier Flewellen

Olivier is a CPA, PhD, MBA and CGMA with over 30 years’ experience in public accounting and government finance. For over 10 years she served as the Controller/Director of Finance of the Port of Oakland, where she supervised the finance, accounting and information technology departments.
She was responsible for:

• Accounting and financial reporting in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles.
• Monitoring budget performance.
• Providing centralized accounting services to all divisions.
• Development written policies, procedures and controls to provide consistent processing and recording of transactions.
• Led the Port’s successful implementation of the Oracle Enterprise Resource Planning system.
• Prepared the Port’s first comprehensive annual financial report, which has received the Government Finance Officers Association’s Certificate of Achievement each year since 2004.

Olivier has assisted several governments in interim accounting management roles including State Bar of California and San Mateo Medical Center. She is currently a Professor for the University of Phoenix School of Business, where she teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in accounting, leadership, management and business communications. She previously served as an adjunct professor at San Francisco City College, where she taught courses in accounting, excel, and QuickBooks.​
